The Kennedys

The Kennedys

Seriously, I can’t think of a couple who’s style I love more than JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.  The heir to Camelot and his stunning wife met a tragic end eighteen years ago, but I find their style completely relevant and worthy of recreation.

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not usually attracted to the quintessential WASP style, but there’s something about these two that calls for emulation. Maybe it’s that I tend to wear more black than any other color or the simple, classic pieces–either way I still can’t get enough. Below is a glimpse of their  effortlessly chic and timeless style.

Instagram Outfit Round-Up

Instagram Outfit Round-Up

Hey guys! Sorry for the temporary hiatus, summer living and loving has given my little time to blog! I’m sure most of you have noticed that I’ve been a lot more active on Instagram, which will likely continue since it’s simpler and faster. Come fall I’ll be grinding back into gear full time, but today I’m doing a little round up of outfits I’ve posted there. While most of the exact things I’m wearing in the photos are no longer available, I’ll be linking similar items to recreate the outfits!

IMG_2313

Last weekend we were in New Braunfels for a concert and decided to stop in and see what all the hype around the Gristmill restaurant was all about. Y’all, it did not disappoint! I had a bomb chicken pasta salad that was probably a portion meant for four people, but I devoured every bite……

I’d been searching for an event for my favorite embroidered skirt, and last weekend was perfect.  This skirt is identical and under $35, but I’m also really loving this one that has a bit more French flair. The tank and the shoes have been live-in pieces for me this summer and are under $20! Y’all know I’m a big fan of 70’s pieces to spice up my outfits, so it comes as no surprise that my favorite summer sunglasses are these retro round frames!

IMG_2200

One of our favorite places to grab a good cup o’ joe in Austin is definitely Mozart’s on the lake.  This jumpsuit is perfect for summer coffee dates or errand running, or never taking off–which is basically what I’ve done since the day I bought it….. I’ll be honest with you guys, this jumpsuit was a back of the rack, crazy clearance steal from Old Navy and I’m now convinced that it was literally the only one made because I cannot find it ANYWHERE!  I’ve found a couple of great replacements here and here, as well as this awesome one that I may or may have not just purchased–oops!  I’m loving the return of espadrilles this year, and personally stalked this pair for months.  I’m happy to report to you guys that they’re now less than $15– so go snatch a pair for yourself!

IMG_2337

This dress, guys.  It’s sooo comfortable and so flattering.  My sweet work friend Sadi gave me this one, but I’ve linked a couple of other great ones here, and here! While I’ve been searching for other options for you guys, I’ve seen a ton of maternity versions and I’m thinking(this may be crazy) that if you size down no one would even know the dress is maternity…. Apparently, pom pom necklaces are super easy to make, but if you’re lazy like me there are tons listed on Etsy.  You can get just about any color your heart desires and they’re cheap, y’all!

IMG_2319

REPEAT OFFENDER on this get-up, guys.  This might truly be the shirt I’ve worn most in my life.  If you’re a mega nerd like me, or even just casually obsessed with Game of Thrones– get yo’self this shirt.

Are there any other Insta-outfits you guys are just dying for the details on?? I’d love to hear about it, and then share what I can! Hope you all have a sparkling Sunday.

Ah, Summer☀️

Ah, Summer☀️

Remember this sweet little dress from our celebration at Mr. Andrew’s? I’m.In.Love! Light, airy and a pop of color–is there anything more perfect for summer?

The exact dress is no longer available straight from Old Navy[I know–the heartbreak], but I’ve linked it via Poshmark here, here and here. For reference, I’m usually a size 4, and am wearing a medium in this dress. I also LOVE this pretty red number–the button detail is to die for.

I’ve seriously been living in these great sandals via Target. Doesn’t Target always have the best sandals for a steal?! Aaaand for those of you interested in the bubbly–this is what was fillin’ my cup and making the night so memorable! For a slightly wilder time, check out Clooney’s Casamigos tequila. We tested it out for y’all–and it will not disappoint.

In the words of one of my favorite podcast, “What a week!”–am I right? I LOVE the celebrating Independence Day and this year was even sweeter.  I was able to spend FOUR whole days in Austin with my love!  I haven’t previously addressed this but for the past month(ish) we’ve been doing a little distance tango, and y’all it’s hard not to see his face every day.  Below you’ll find a little recap of our extended weekend and festivities.

fourth10

We kicked off the weekend in Corpus Christi at a little gathering hosted by Mr. Andrew, Mr. Jay’s older brother. Above you’ll see that they started off with a game of grilling brats….there may have been a small fire

I ate waayyyyy too much cake and brats….

fourth8

We discovered why George Clooney’s tequila company sold for a billion dollars….

fourth3

And ended the evening on another fiery note.

In the middle there was an epic day-date consisting of a stop by The Mean Eyed Cat, absolutely delicious bites at El Arroyo and a viewing of It Comes At Night, which we both LOVED!

fourth4

We rounded out the Fourth with a crazy spin around Austin(only Mr. Jay could make a Favor shift my favorite part of the weekend), and seeing fireworks from the car.  How was you fourth??

Monday Muse: Deaux

Monday Muse: Deaux

Happy {almost} Independence Day, guys! I hope your weekend was filled to the brim with beer, brats and watermelon–ours definitely was!

In celebration of what would’ve been her 56th birthday, this week I’m featuring Diana, Princess of Wales as a Monday Muse. The blue-eyed beauty has always been one of my biggest style influences.  I credit her with my love of a good spectator pump(highly underrated these days, if you ask me), and for showing us that plaid can be great in so many ways that don’t involve a kilt.  Shy, reserved, elegant and graceful–her style, demeanor and humanitarian work made her more than just British royalty. She became a beacon of good in the world, and man could she wear a hat! Below I’ve rounded up my ten favorite looks by the people’s princess.

Enjoy!

Hooray for Fourth of July weekend! I hope you guys had a fabulous week, and now it’s time for hot dogs, a cool drink and some fireworks–am I right??

Saturday I had the privilege of celebrating my dear friend Bethany at a bridal shower for her impending nuptials to the awesome Joseph! She’s going to make the most beautiful bride❤️

Seeing all of my sweet friends was just icing on the celebratory cake<for my dress details, see this week’s earlier post Little Pink Dress>!

I’m currently elbows deep in and completely fascinated by “The Botany of Desire” by Michael Pollan. While it sounds a bit like a trashy romance novel, it couldn’t be further from it! This book is certainly my first venture into scientific non-fiction, other than course assigned reading, but I’m really diggin’ it!

I’ve been obsessing over these beauties via Charlotte Russe(online only). Now if I could only come up with somewhere to wear them…..

I’m headed back to Austin today to spend four whole days with this sweet guy and I couldn’t be happier! Our weekend will be jam packed with a beach trip and fourth celebrations, some movie watching, pool time and lots of Cornelius(and Jay) lovin’. What’re you guys looking forward to this weekend? Happy Fourth, y’all!

The Little Pink Dress

The Little Pink Dress

I have all of the love for this dress. I actually found it in an awesome second hand boutique in Ft. Worth, unworn with the tags on. Talk about a miracle!
I found this beauty on a random trip and ended up wearing it to a wedding last summer and it was to die for. I knew it would be just the thing to wear for my dear friend Bethany’s wedding shower this weekend! Let’s get down to the details, shall we?
If you’re dying to have this exact dress, I’ve been able to locate it in a few places online. It’s BCBG by Max Azria, and best I can tell was released a couple of springs ago. The real deal can be found here .

pink5.jpg
The official color is ‘Berry Red’, but I definitely think of it as more of a pink, so below I’ve given you similar dresses in both colors, if you’re not picky about this exact silhouette. This red dress has a similar cut, but updated for the current season with a great off the shoulder neck. I also really adore this pink number via Target! I’ve not always been a pleat girl, but this dress is amazing.

pink3.jpg

With a hot color like this pink(or red😉) I love to accent with gold. This necklace is my go to, and I’ve found a similar one here. Basic large gold hoops and simple, yet sparkly bracelets suit the summer vibe perfectly. I also paired the dress with my favorite congac wedge, to keep the dress a bit more casual for an afternoon shower. If you have the look in mind for a wedding, I’d stick with a classic nude pump to glam the look up–I’m currently loving this one!

pink7

Don’t you just love getting to take a great outfit for more than just one spin?? I’ve never been the girl who could only wear a great dress once–I’m always on the hunt for another event to showcase it!

Monday Muse: Amal Clooney

Monday Muse: Amal Clooney

The actual title of this inaugural edition of this new weekly post should definitely be “Monday Muse: Amal Clooney, or How I Became Obsessed With Her Style Because my Boyfriend’s Mother Thinks We Look Alike.” Wow, what a mouth full! So, I stuck with the shortened version….

Happy Monday to you all! I’ve been contemplating a weekly post where I give you guys little snippets of my style inspiration, and it seems natural that my latest obsession would be a great place to start. A few weeks ago, Mr. Jay’s mom told him how much she thought I look like Amal Clooney. Of course, I immediately started stalking Amal’s style and guys It.Is.Killer! Classically feminine with pops of fun patterns everywhere–what’s not to love? Below I’ve selected my top ten Amal Clooney looks, and believe you me, it was NOT easy to choose just ten!

**Disclaimer: I do not think I look like the stunning Mrs. Clooney, but what a compliment!

If you’re anything like me, you definitely see a style worth emulating. Very often, we find ourselves looking at style alone, and once we find out more about a person who’s seen as a fashion ideal, there can sometimes be nothing more than a pretty face–if you know what I mean.  Mrs. Clooney is highly successful in her own right as a renowned human rights lawyer in the UK.  Looks like Mr. Clooney is the lucky one, and this ultra-chic lady is someone we’d be happy for girls to look up to.

As a parting gift, I’ll leave you guys a little glimpse of Amal’s wedding weekend style. Believe me, it will leave you dreamy eyed!

Happy Friday, y’all! In case you didn’t know, I’m still day dreaming about this view…..sigh. Hope you all had a great week! Mine was fast and furious–and can you believe that it’s already officially summer? I’m headed to a bridal shower for one of my close friends tomorrow(more on her gift next week–I don’t want to spoil the surprise!), and spending the rest of the weekend girl-timin’ with my cousin! Hope you guys have the best weekend, and here are some things I loved from the week!

mexico ring

I picked up this ring in Mexico and I truly have worn it every single day since.  I love how simple and classic it is, and bonus–it make me look tan! While it’s not quite the steal I got in Mexico, you can find a similar ring here.

toes

These beachy toes are making my feel like it’s officially summer(and the crazy Texas heat)! This color is “In the Cabana”–how cute is that?? You can snag this great polish for yourself here.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Soft-Spoken (dupe for Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita)

My current go-to lip color….y’all, I’m obsessed! Get it here.

If you guys find yourselves in a shopping mood this weekend, I highly recommend that you check out both target and Old Navy.  This weekend, online and in-stores, Target features some awesome deals like buy one, get one half off on swimwear.  Old Navy is featuring 50% off of dresses, tees, tanks, shorts and swim! Now would be the perfect time to snag that Fourth of July outfit you’ve been pining for!

A little vacation is good for the soul, and you guys–it’s just what the girl needed! I hope you’ve all been well, while I’ve been on hiatus!! What better way to welcome back JChic from vacation that with a special edition of Friday Favorites? Since I’ve been out for close to a month(eek!), I’m including  a few extra things I’ve recently been loving.  Without further ado…

sville10.jpg

I kicked off my little break by watching this doll graduate from Texas Tech! The photo isn’t a good one, and we somehow made it without taking a cap an gown photo, but I couldn’t be more proud of Devyn’s hard work!

Then, this stud snagged a great internship with Austin Film Society. If you’re a lover of movies, see what it’s all about www.austinfilm.org .

Devyn and I spent five sun-kissed and beautiful days in Playa del Carmen, and saying we didn’t want to come home is only a slight understatement…..

sville2

Since we’re now a distance love, I’ve been soaking up all the weekend dates with this amazing dude that I can!

sville7

Naturally, our first date when I returned was to see Wonder Woman…..and it was spectacular! DC can still make a good film– this is the proof we’ve been waiting for! I literally cannot wait to see it, again.

sville6

I’m currently searching drugstores high and low for this amazing color via Essie.  Sil Vous Play–how fun is that name?! If you’re not a nut like me, and totally down with ordering polish online, you can get this one here.

sville1

I’ve been L-I-V-I-N’ in this shirt, and I’m not even mad about it.  Mr. Jay says I’ve gone full cat lady…..

Image result for mystic divine creations curl creme

AND by popular demand(ok, really only my sweet friend Morgan has been asking, but….) Y’all, I cannot live with this crazy curly mane with out this jazz! it saves. my. life! If you’ve been searching for frizz-fighting curl magic, snag it here.

Cheers to the weekend, hope everyone has a blast!
